Job Overview

A law firm seeks a full-time Associate Attorney in San Diego, California, offering a hybrid work arrangement. This position involves litigating sexual assault and human trafficking cases, focusing on a survivor-centered approach while managing complex matters from intake through trial.

Duties

  • Manage a caseload from intake through resolution or trial
  • Develop litigation strategies, including liability theories and damages analysis
  • Advocate for clients using a trauma-informed, client-centered approach
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda
  • Handle discovery, including drafting and responding to requests and managing evidence
  • Prepare for and participate in depositions, mediations, and court proceedings
  • Work with experts, investigators, and support staff to build cases
  • Prepare trial materials, including briefs, exhibits, and witness examinations
  • Maintain regular client communication and prepare clients for all stages of litigation

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3+ years of litigation experience, preferably in civil or complex litigation
  • Experience with discovery, depositions, motion practice, and trial preparation
  • Ability to manage sensitive matters with professionalism and care
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for case-related responsibilities

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in California
