Job Overview

A law firm seeks a detail-oriented Estate Planning Attorney in Charleston, SC. The successful candidate will manage estates, trusts, wills, and guardianship cases in the Charleston/Lowcountry area, collaborating with a team of experienced estate law attorneys.

Duties

  • Meet with potential clients to discuss legal services and offer advice on legal actions.
  • Draft legal documents, research laws, and organize client meetings to establish future plans.
  • Prioritize customer needs, maintain regular communication, and collaborate with the Client Experience team.
  • Provide creative solutions to clients' legal challenges by analyzing their situations and developing tailored strategies.
  • Accurately record and report time spent on cases promptly.
  • Travel to various offices in the area as necessary.
  • Collaborate effectively with other attorneys to enhance practice.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of experience specializing in estate law.
  • Law license in South Carolina; dual licensure in North Carolina or Georgia preferred.
  • Strong teamwork skills and commitment to client satisfaction.
  • Attention to detail and a willingness to exceed expectations.
  • Effective and sensitive communication skills.
  • Experience in estate planning, probate, and trust/estate administration advantageous.
  • Litigation experience desirable for guardianship and estate litigation cases.
  • Ability to efficiently track and bill time.
  • Strong work ethic and initiative to complete tasks independently.
  • Negotiation and communication skills are vital.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in South Carolina.

  • Proficiency in legal research and document drafting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
