A law firm seeks a motivated and skilled Associate Attorney to join its growing team in Los Angeles, CA. Duties

  • Provide legal consultation to clients, offering expert guidance on a variety of issues.
  • Handle diverse practice areas including Cannabis, Labor & Employment, Housing, Environmental Law, Public Safety, Litigation, and more.
  • Conduct in-depth legal research and draft compelling briefs for review by senior attorneys.
  • Analyze complex legal documents such as contracts, suggesting necessary alterations.
  • Perform discovery procedures, reviewing both electronic and hard-copy data in preparation for litigation.
  • Conduct due diligence in legal matters related to contracts, agreements, and public works.
  • Represent clients in court and before government agencies, presenting arguments and defending their positions.
  • Formulate defense strategies and advise on the likely outcomes of cases based on legal precedents.
  • Interview clients and witnesses to gather relevant information and evidence.
  • Search public and legal records to support case development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across practice areas to verify legal issues and ensure accuracy in proceedings.
  • Communicate effectively with clients throughout the case lifecycle, providing updates as directed by senior attorneys.
  • Assist in supervising legal staff such as secretaries and paralegals, ensuring the smooth operation of legal processes.
  • Manage administrative functions related to the practice of law, ensuring compliance with firm policies.
  • Complete special assignments and contribute to firm-wide initiatives as needed.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in California.
  • 2-7 years of experience in relevant legal practice areas, with a focus on litigation or public sector law.
  • Proficiency in legal research, analysis, and writing.
  • Experience in managing discovery processes and preparing legal documents for litigation.
  • Ability to represent clients in various legal proceedings, including court appearances and negotiations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple cases and meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented approach to ensure accuracy in legal documents and client communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on client service and legal presentations.
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues and work independently as required.
  • Administrative and managerial experience is preferred, particularly for those interested in leading legal teams.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
