Job Overview:
A reputable law firm is seeking an experienced Tax/Corporate Associate with 5-8 years of experience to join its Tax and Corporate practice group. The position offers flexibility with the option to work from any of the firm's locations in Cherry Hill, Philadelphia, or Conshohocken, with occasional travel to these offices. The ideal candidate will have experience in tax research, planning, and drafting within a law firm environment, with a focus on corporate tax matters.

Location:

  • Philadelphia, PA

Duties:

  • Provide tax research, planning, and drafting services, primarily for corporate tax matters such as formation, mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, reorganization, and business financing.

  • Analyze and address complex tax issues, including individual and corporate tax matters.

  • Advise clients on the tax treatment and planning for incentive compensation for key employees.

  • Assist in resolving tax controversies and represent clients in tax-related matters.

  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to develop effective legal solutions for corporate tax needs.

Requirements:

  • 5-8 years of direct experience in tax law, particularly within a mid-size or large law firm environment.

  • Strong background in corporate tax, including mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, and business entity formation.

  • Experience with tax research, planning, and drafting for individual and corporate tax issues.

  • Experience with tax treatment and design of incentive compensation for employees.

  • Tax controversy experience is highly desired.

  • Excellent academic credentials.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Organizational and analytical skills.

  • LLM or pending LLM preferred.

  • Admission to the New Jersey and Pennsylvania Bars is required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

  • LLM (or pending) in Taxation is preferred.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Skills:

  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.

  • Proficiency in tax planning and corporate law matters.

  • Ability to manage complex legal tasks and work independently.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
