Associate Attorney

Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney in New York to represent mortgage servicer and investor clients in residential and commercial foreclosure, title, and general real estate litigation. This role involves appearances in state and federal court, case strategy development, document drafting, discovery, trials, appeals, and settlement negotiations. The position may be in-office, hybrid, or fully remote based on the candidate's qualifications.

Duties

• Manage contested foreclosures and defensive litigation for mortgage servicers and investors.
• Prosecute commercial foreclosures from initiation to completion.
• Analyze loan files, title reports, and client documents.
• Draft motions, pleadings, and settlement agreements.
• Appear in court for various legal proceedings.
• Communicate with clients to ensure quality representation.
• Collaborate with support staff for document preparation and execution.
• Research and analyze complex client cases.
• Create matter budgets and track billable time.

Requirements

• J.D. degree and bar license in good standing in New York.
• Bar license in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and/or Connecticut is a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant litigation experience preferred.
• Knowledge of New York Mortgage Foreclosure Law required.
