Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney for Pleading Review in Houston, TX. The attorney will review complaints, letters, and other pleadings to determine if sufficient grounds exist to proceed, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and client regulations.

Duties

  • Review pleadings for accurate information, including venue, balances, and named parties.
  • Ensure compliance with statutes of limitations and proper documentation.
  • Assist in legal research to ensure pleadings are up-to-date with applicable laws.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team and work independently as needed.
  • Utilize computer and word processing skills, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in Creditors' Rights or Collection fields preferred.
  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Texas.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Education

  • Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.)

Certifications

  • Texas Bar License

Skills

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience with pleadings and complaints, particularly in collections.
  • Ability to learn new technical programs quickly.
