Job Overview

A law firm seeks a patent agent with over two years of experience in computer science or electrical engineering for their New York, New York office. The role involves collaborating with inventors and attorneys to prepare and prosecute patent applications related to emerging technologies.

Duties

• Identify inventions through technical discussions with inventors.
• Conduct novelty and clearance searches to distinguish inventions from current art.
• Draft comprehensive patent applications.
• Collaborate with attorneys to negotiate patent application rights with the Patent Office.
• Prepare reports and documentation to manage patent portfolios.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in computer science or electrical engineering.
• Strong technical skills and excellent writing abilities.
• Exceptional attention to technical detail.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.

Education

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics.

Certifications

Skills

• Technical experience in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, wireless communications, sensors, semiconductors, or optics is a plus.
