Job Overview:

A well-established law firm based in Buffalo, NY, is seeking a driven litigation associate with 1-4 years of experience to support its healthcare and long-term care litigation practice. This role offers an opportunity to represent healthcare providers and institutions in complex medical malpractice matters within a dynamic and supportive team environment. Candidates should demonstrate a proactive mindset, strong writing abilities, and comfort engaging directly with clients and medical experts.

Duties:

  • Collaborate with senior litigators to shape and execute defense strategies in medical malpractice cases

  • Draft and analyze pleadings, motions, legal correspondence, and discovery documents

  • Review and assess medical records and related documentation

  • Represent clients in court appearances, depositions, and case conferences

  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, briefs, and other substantive filings

  • Coordinate with medical experts and engage in the preparation of expert testimony

  • Participate in all stages of litigation, from inception to resolution

  • Maintain direct client interaction and contribute to case strategy discussions

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice law in New York, or awaiting admission after passing the NY Bar

  • 1 to 4 years of litigation experience, preferably in the medical malpractice or healthcare domain

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple caseloads

  • Skilled in legal analysis and research, with a focus on medical and healthcare-related issues

  • Strong interpersonal skills for client and colleague engagement

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • New York State Bar admission (or pending with Bar passage)
