Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate with significant experience in Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) regulatory matters for their practice in Charlotte, NC. The successful candidate will advise clients on compliance with the Commodity Exchange Act (CEA) and CFTC Regulations, engage with emerging markets including digital currency, and collaborate on cross-disciplinary matters.

Duties

  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda on CEA and CFTC Regulations.
  • Review and analyze business models for compliance with CEA and Regulations.
  • Engage with emerging markets, especially digital currency.
  • Prepare regulatory filings, including DCM, DCO, FCM, IB, SD registration documents, and no-action letters.
  • Collaborate on cross-disciplinary matters, including transactional and litigation.
  • Participate in client meetings and pitches.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of direct CFTC and CEA experience.
  • Experience with DCM compliance issues, including prediction markets.
  • Fluency in digital currency regulatory matters.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and eagerness to learn.
  • Membership to the State Bar where the candidate will be located is required.
  • Experience with SEC regulations valued, but not required.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree required.

Certifications

  • State Bar membership required.
