Job Overview
A law firm seeks a motivated Attorney to join their team in Philadelphia, PA. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an attorney aspiring to gain hands-on trial experience in a high-performing environment. The position is primarily in-office, with flexibility for remote work as cases allow.

Duties

  • Manage discovery, motion practice, and pre-trial preparation independently from intake through resolution.
  • Conduct case evaluations, assess liability and damages, and develop case strategy with supervising attorneys.
  • Draft and review complaints, answers, and other initial pleadings; monitor statute of limitations deadlines.
  • Coordinate with paralegals on the preparation and timely filing of Certificates of Merit, where applicable.
  • Draft, serve, and respond to discovery requests, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
  • Take and defend depositions of fact witnesses, clients, and expert witnesses.
  • Draft and argue motions, including motions for summary judgment, motions in limine, and discovery motions.
  • Prepare pre-trial submissions, including pre-trial memoranda, witness and exhibit lists, and proposed jury instructions.
  • Organize and index trial exhibits; prepare and review trial binders in coordination with litigation paralegal.
  • Coordinate with court reporters, trial technology vendors, and expert witnesses in advance of trial.
  • Participate in jury selection, opening statements, witness examinations, and closing arguments, as directed by the supervising attorney.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients; provide regular case updates and manage client expectations with professionalism and empathy.
  • Identify, retain, and work collaboratively with expert witnesses, including medical specialists.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active Pennsylvania bar license in good standing (admission to New Jersey bar is a plus).
  • 3-5 years of experience with a strong foundation in litigation.
  • Experience in personal injury or medical malpractice is preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active Pennsylvania bar license.

Skills

  • Excellent organizational, time management, research, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to collaborate with supervising attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure cases are handled efficiently and deadlines are consistently met.
