Job Title: Associate Attorney (Government Takings)

Job Overview:

A leading law firm is seeking a talented Associate Attorney to join its government takings practice. This role focuses on helping clients secure compensation for their losses due to governmental actions affecting their property. The ideal candidate will bring strong legal skills, a passion for justice, and a commitment to growing within this specialized legal field.

Duties:

  • Evaluate potential claims related to government takings and provide expert legal advice to clients.
  • Represent clients in litigation, negotiations, and court proceedings to ensure justice and fair compensation.
  • Draft, review, and modify legal documents, conduct legal research, and compile relevant case evidence.
  • Analyze and interpret property-related legal instruments, including maps and conveyance documentation.
  • Conduct real estate title examinations when necessary.
  • Manage case files and coordinate with support teams to ensure timely progress on cases.
  • Negotiate settlement agreements where appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) and licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
  • Eligible for admission to the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.
  • Proven skills in drafting legal documents, research, negotiation, and both written and verbal communication.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, especially in handling cases with competing priorities.
  • Willingness to travel for case-related purposes.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in any U.S. State is required.

Skills:

  • In-depth understanding of government takings, real property law, and federal constitutional law.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research and document drafting.
  • Negotiation and litigation expertise.
  • Fluency in Spanish (preferred but not required).
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
