Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney to join their team in Fairfield, NJ. The firm specializes in personal injury and general liability cases, including automotive and trucking negligence, medical malpractice, and toxic torts. The attorney will play a key role in defending clients against complex and high-exposure litigation.

Duties

  • Draft pleadings, correspondence, memoranda, and other legal documents.
  • Record and disseminate client information effectively.
  • Summarize medical records and highlight key information.
  • Write reports to clients summarizing case status and next steps.
  • Identify, research, and analyze legal issues and opinions.
  • Take and defend depositions, handle arbitrations, and argue motions.
  • Attend in-person and virtual court appearances.
  • Provide legal representation to protect client interests.
  • Explain litigation processes to clients unfamiliar with them.
  • Manage cases towards cost-effective and fair resolutions.
  • Handle multiple assignments and deadlines efficiently.

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience in insurance defense.
  • Experience with depositions, mediations, and arbitrations.
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Member in good standing with the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and/or New York bar.
  • Good judgment and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage a large caseload and day-to-day tasks.
  • Strong desire to learn and grow professionally.
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience billing for time.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Bar admission in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and/or New York.

Skills

  • Strong legal research and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in managing complex legal cases.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
