Job Overview:
A prominent national law firm is seeking a Workers' Compensation & Insurance Defense Associate Attorney licensed in New Jersey to join its newly launched office in Fairfield. This is an opportunity to be a foundational member of a growing regional team while working with a well-established national practice. The ideal candidate will have a litigation background and experience in handling workers’ compensation matters from initial filing through resolution. This role offers strong professional development, autonomy, and the chance to contribute to business growth in a newly expanded jurisdiction.

Location:

  • Fairfield, New Jersey

Duties:

  • Manage a caseload of workers' compensation defense cases

  • Represent clients throughout the litigation process including hearings, depositions, and mediations

  • Draft pleadings, motions, legal correspondence, and reports

  • Conduct legal research and prepare case strategies

  • Collaborate with clients and legal team to ensure effective case progression

  • Attend court proceedings and adhere to procedural deadlines

  • Support firm initiatives to build the regional practice and maintain client relationships

Requirements:

  • 2–3 years of litigation experience, preferably in workers' compensation or insurance defense

  • Licensed to practice law in the State of New Jersey (required)

  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload effectively

  • Comfortable working independently within a fast-paced litigation environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills and client communication abilities

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active and in good standing with the New Jersey State Bar

Skills:

  • Excellent legal writing and analytical skills

  • Strong oral advocacy for courtroom and deposition settings

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Familiarity with legal case management software

  • Well-organized and detail-oriented with sound time management
