Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly motivated and experienced Insurance Coverage Associate in Seattle, WA. The role involves representing insurance carriers in complex coverage matters, preparing coverage opinions, and defending against bad faith claims. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strategic leadership and possess strong client relationship skills, alongside drafting, writing, and research abilities. Working closely with partners, the candidate will receive mentorship while providing effective representation to clients.

Duties

  • Analyze insurance policies and draft detailed coverage opinions for insurer clients.
  • Represent insurers in coverage litigation, including declaratory judgment actions and contribution disputes.
  • Defend insurers against bad faith, extra-contractual liability, and breach of contract claims.
  • Prepare and respond to pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Take and defend depositions, argue motions, and represent clients in mediations and court hearings.
  • Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates and legal guidance.
  • Manage multiple files independently and collaborate with team members.

Requirements

  • 3 to 7 years of experience in insurance coverage matters.
  • Membership in the Washington State Bar.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Washington State Bar membership.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and drafting skills.
  • Excellent client relationship and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases independently.
