A law firm in New York City is seeking an insightful and detail-oriented attorney to join its trusts and estates team. This position offers a compelling opportunity to work closely with individuals, families, and fiduciaries on matters involving legacy planning, asset protection, and wealth transfer strategies. Attorneys in this role will be part of a collegial environment that combines technical excellence with deeply personal client work, offering long-term professional growth without excessive administrative burden.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement customized estate plans, including wills, trusts, and related instruments

  • Advise clients on tax-efficient strategies for wealth transfer and charitable giving

  • Represent clients in probate and surrogate’s court proceedings, including contested and uncontested matters

  • Support fiduciaries with trust administration, including compliance and beneficiary issues

  • Coordinate with financial advisors, accountants, and family offices to align estate plans with broader financial goals

  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on estate, gift, and generation-skipping tax implications

Required Background & Licensure:

  • Between 1 to 6 years of relevant experience in estate planning and administration

  • Licensed to practice law in the State of New York and be in good standing

  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal and New York State estate, gift, and income tax rules

  • Familiarity with surrogate’s court procedures and trust administration best practices

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

  • LL.M. in Taxation is preferred

  • Strong analytical and drafting skills, with a high level of precision in written work

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build client trust

  • Discretion and sensitivity when handling confidential financial and family matters

  • Organizational talent with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
