Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Estate Planning Attorney in Portland, OR. The successful candidate will have over five years of experience in estate planning, including drafting wills and trusts, estate administration, and advising on tax strategies. This role requires expertise in estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax laws, along with strong interpersonal skills to foster client relationships.

Duties

  • Advise clients on estate planning, including wills, trusts, and healthcare directives.
  • Draft estate planning documents tailored to client needs.
  • Conduct client consultations and develop tax minimization strategies.
  • Manage trust and estate administration, including probate proceedings.
  • Stay informed on changes to estate and tax laws.
  • Coordinate with financial advisors and accountants on planning strategies.
  • Support clients with gifting strategies and charitable planning.
  • Handle guardianship and conservatorship matters as needed.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar membership in Oregon and/or Washington.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in estate planning and administration.
  • Strong drafting and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of federal and state tax laws related to estates and trusts.
  • Excellent client communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple client matters independently.
  • LL.M. in Taxation or CFP designation is a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active bar membership in Oregon and/or Washington.

Skills

  • Ability to manage multiple matters efficiently.
