Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced litigation attorney to manage a dedicated docket of matters and provide day-to-day case administration in New York, NY. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and capable of independently handling a variety of tasks across the lifecycle of litigation. This role requires strong judgment and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.

Duties

  • Independently oversee and maintain a large docket of active matters.
  • Track deadlines and ensure compliance with procedural requirements.
  • Coordinate filings, hearing schedules, and discovery workflows.
  • Serve as the primary contact for case activity specific to an assigned partner/client.
  • Prepare case summaries, timelines, and status updates.
  • Draft, review, and revise pleadings, motions, and memoranda.
  • Conduct legal research and provide practical analyses and recommendations.
  • Support deposition preparation, witness interviews, and trial preparation.
  • Communicate directly with clients to provide updates and respond to inquiries.
  • Work closely with internal teams and coordinate with outside counsel as needed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a law firm or high-volume legal environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a sizable docket with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent legal writing, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize competing deadlines.
  • Client-service orientation with a proactive approach.

Education

  • JD from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Bar admission in an attorney's resident and/or affiliated office; California bar admission a plus.
