Job Overview:
A highly respected law firm is seeking a dedicated and motivated Bankruptcy & Restructuring Associate to join its Finance, Bankruptcy & Restructuring Practice Group in Wilmington, Delaware. The successful candidate will support a wide range of creditor’s rights matters, including bankruptcies, restructurings, commercial collections, and related litigation in both federal and state courts. This is an excellent opportunity for a legal professional with foundational experience in business bankruptcy and a desire to further develop within a dynamic and collaborative team.

Location:

  • Wilmington, Delaware

Duties:

  • Prepare legal documents for Federal and State court filings, including pleadings, motions, briefs, complaints, and discovery documents

  • Draft and file bankruptcy-related documentation such as proofs of claim and summonses

  • Conduct legal research and analyze case law, statutes, legal codes, and secondary sources using platforms such as Lexis and Westlaw

  • Support attorneys with trial preparation and assist in evidentiary hearings, depositions, and court appearances

  • Handle routine correspondence and calls involving attorneys, trustees, clients, debtors, and the courts

  • Contribute to the overall case strategy and assist with restructurings, receiverships, and enforcement actions

Requirements:

  • 2–3 years of experience practicing in business bankruptcy, insolvency, or related litigation

  • Must be licensed and in good standing to practice law in the state of Delaware

  • Excellent legal writing, analytical, and research skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced legal environment

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Delaware Bar (required)

Skills:

  • Proficient in legal research platforms such as LexisNexis and Westlaw

  • Strong drafting and litigation preparation skills

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple deadlines

  • Effective communication with clients, courts, and colleagues

  • Knowledge of federal and state court procedures and filings
