A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney to join its Texas-based team, contributing to both transactional and courtroom matters under the guidance of senior partners.

Duties

  • Assist with diverse areas of practice, including corporate transactions, litigation, and real estate matters.

  • Conduct in-depth legal research on sophisticated issues and draft memoranda, briefs, or position papers for supervising attorneys or external recipients (clients, courts, mediators, arbitrators).

  • Represent clients at hearings, arbitrations, or other tribunals, presenting cogent legal arguments on their behalf.

  • Review, interpret, and summarize complex contractual documents; recommend revisions to align with client objectives and risk tolerance.

  • Engage in negotiations with opposing counsel or third parties over contractual disputes, settlement discussions, and other legal matters.

  • Identify potential legal concerns early, propose risk-avoidance strategies, and assist in designing litigation-prevention plans.

  • Perform due diligence for transactions, including drafting and reviewing agreements, assessing liabilities, and supporting mergers or acquisitions.

  • Take on additional assignments and special projects as directed by firm leadership.

Requirements

  • Admission to the Texas State Bar (active license required).

  • 0–2 years of substantive legal practice experience, with exposure or interest in corporate, transactional, litigation, and real estate work.

  • Proven ability to organize multiple tasks, prioritize independently, and manage time effectively.

  • Adaptable mindset with willingness to pivot among varied legal assignments.

  • Demonstrated project management skills and capacity to juggle several matters simultaneously.

  • Eagerness to expand legal knowledge and stay current on evolving statutes, case law, and industry trends.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an American Bar Association–accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active Texas State Bar membership.

Skills

  • Strong research and analytical abilities to dissect complex legal problems and propose actionable solutions.

  • Excellent written communication for drafting persuasive briefs, contracts, and correspondence.

  • Effective oral advocacy and presentation skills for courtroom appearances and negotiations.
