Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Senior Attorney specializing in Trusts and Estates Litigation in San Diego, CA. This role involves managing complex litigation cases, providing strategic oversight, and mentoring junior attorneys and support staff. The position requires advanced litigation skills, strong judgment, and the ability to work independently while fostering a collaborative firm culture.

Duties

  • Draft pleadings, motions, and settlement agreements for contested trust and estate litigation.
  • Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, and trials.
  • Oversee contested trusts and estates cases, including fiduciary disputes and will contests.
  • Supervise paralegals and support staff, ensuring accurate and timely filings.
  • Advise clients on litigation strategy and dispute resolution options.
  • Conduct research on relevant statutes, case law, and tax rules.
  • Appear in probate court for contested hearings and trials.
  • Provide mentorship and training to Associates and staff.

Requirements

  • Active Member of the State Bar of California.
  • Five to ten years of experience in civil or trusts and estates litigation.
  • Advanced law degree or specialization in practice area preferred.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring Associate Attorneys preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • State Bar of California membership.

Skills

  • Advanced legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong professional judgment and reliability.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and law firm management software.
  • Excellent communication skills.
