Senior Counsel - Civil Litigation Insurance Defense

Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Senior Counsel specializing in Civil Litigation Insurance Defense in Cherry Hill, NJ. The role involves serving as lead counsel on moderately complex to complex coverage matters, requiring expertise from inception through all litigation phases. The successful candidate will work directly with the business to ensure professional and efficient handling of all legal matters.

Duties

• Appear in federal and state courts to manage litigation of insurance coverage issues.
• Draft motions, briefs, pleadings, and other legal documents.
• Propose, prepare, and respond to oral and written discovery.
• Decide on legal positions and tactics; offer guidance on potential outcomes.
• Complete administrative requirements such as time tracking and case reports.
• Analyze conflicts in legal matters and advise clients on solutions.
• Manage caseloads and schedules; prepare for and attend depositions and trials.
• Handle administrative tasks such as billing and record keeping.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships.
• Mentor and coach less senior attorneys and staff.
• Ensure confidentiality in all matters.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10+ years of experience in a law firm or legal practice.
• Experience in general liability, professional liability, construction, complex commercial litigation, insurance defense, and medical malpractice.
• Strong legal knowledge and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Strong client service orientation and ability to prioritize work.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Exceptional decision-making and project management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
