Job Overview

A law firm seeks a junior to mid-level associate to join its International Disputes practice in Washington, D.C. The role involves international commercial and investment treaty arbitrations and related court proceedings, focusing on public international law, jurisdiction, and enforcement.

Duties

  • Engage in international commercial and investor-State arbitrations under ICSID, UNCITRAL, ICC, LCIA, or ICDR rules.
  • Draft written submissions and evidentiary materials.
  • Research international law, treaty, jurisdictional, and damages issues.
  • Assist with hearing preparation and advocacy.
  • Participate in arbitration-related court and appellate proceedings, including discovery and award enforcement.

Requirements

  • 3-6 years of experience in international arbitration and complex commercial litigation.
  • Large law firm experience preferred.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Strong research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Judicial clerkship experience is a plus.
  • Local bar admission required.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Admission to the local bar.
