Associate Attorney - General Liability Defense

Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Associate Attorney to join its New York, NY office, focusing on general liability defense litigation. This role offers the opportunity to manage cases independently while collaborating with a team of seasoned litigators in a hybrid work environment.

Duties

• Manage cases from inception through resolution or trial.
• Draft pleadings, discovery, and motions.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Conduct legal research and develop case strategies.
• Participate in mediations, arbitrations, court conferences, and trials.
• Communicate with clients, carriers, and opposing counsel.
• Collaborate with partners and team members on case strategy.

Requirements

• Active license to practice law in New York (required).
• 1+ year of civil litigation experience, ideally in general liability defense.
• Strong skills in pleadings, motions, discovery, depositions, and client reporting.
• Excellent legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to independently manage multiple cases and deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with mediation, arbitration, or trial is a plus.
• Dual licensure in another jurisdiction is a bonus (CT preferred).

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications
