Litigation Associate Attorney

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Litigation Associate Attorney in New York City. This role offers the chance to work with experienced litigators on complex litigation matters in a dynamic environment. The position provides hands-on experience, client interaction, and mentorship while representing a diverse range of clients.

Duties

• Manage a litigation caseload from inception through resolution.
• Draft and respond to written discovery.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Prepare, draft, and argue motions.
• Participate in court conferences, oral arguments, mediations, and other proceedings.
• Develop litigation strategy and manage day-to-day case responsibilities.
• Communicate directly with clients and provide strategic guidance and updates.
• Collaborate with attorneys across offices and practice groups.

Requirements

• Admission to practice in New York required.
• Minimum of 3 years of defense litigation experience.
• Strong writing, research, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational, case management, and interpersonal skills.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.

Certifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar.

Skills

• Experience in insurance defense litigation preferred.
• Experience in general liability, professional liability, employment, or commercial litigation preferred.
• Experience handling depositions, motion practice, mediations, and court appearances.
• Experience managing matters independently and working directly with clients.
