Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Insurance Regulatory Associate with 2-5 years of experience to join its practice in Washington, D.C. The successful candidate will advise clients on insurance regulatory matters, interacting extensively with financial services companies, including life and property and casualty insurers and reinsurers.

Duties

  • Advise clients on a full spectrum of transactional and regulatory compliance.
  • Handle regulatory matters within the insurance industry.
  • Engage in formation and licensing of insurers and insurance intermediaries.
  • Ensure compliance with state insurance laws governing non-admitted insurance.
  • Participate in redomestications and the Holding Company Act matters.

Requirements

  • Two to five years of law firm or in-house experience.
  • Experience with insurance regulatory matters.
  • Strong writing and analytical skills.
  • Excellent academic records and communication abilities.
  • Client-service mindset with immediate responsibility capabilities.
  • Detail-oriented, professional, and confident approach.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.

Certifications

  • Bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction.

Skills

  • Knowledge of market conduct and compliance with state insurance laws.
  • Understanding of credit for reinsurance.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
