Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Senior Family Law Litigation Attorney in San Diego, CA. This role offers the opportunity to lead complex family law cases, mentor junior attorneys, and progress toward partnership. The attorney will handle high-net-worth divorce cases, contested custody litigation, and other significant family law matters.

Duties

  • Manage a high-level family law caseload from inception through resolution.
  • Develop and execute litigation strategy for complex family law matters.
  • Conduct depositions, evidentiary hearings, settlement conferences, and trials.
  • Serve as first chair on significant hearings and contested proceedings.
  • Draft and argue complex motions.
  • Negotiate settlements and represent clients in mediation.
  • Mentor and supervise junior attorneys.
  • Work directly with partners on significant family law matters.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional service and advocacy.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of family law litigation experience.
  • CFLS certification is a plus.
  • Active California Bar membership in good standing.
  • Strong courtroom presence and advocacy skills.
  • Significant experience handling contested family law matters.
  • Exceptional legal writing and analytical abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex litigation.
  • Strong client relationship and communication skills.
  • Leadership mindset with an interest in mentorship and team development.
  • Commitment to excellence, professionalism, and client service.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active California Bar membership.
