Job Overview

A law firm seeks a motivated and experienced Construction Attorney to join their team in White Plains, NY. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in construction law, handling a broad range of disputes and transactional matters. This role requires initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to manage matters independently from inception to resolution.

Duties

  • Draft and negotiate construction-related contracts and agreements.
  • Handle mechanic's liens and bond claims, including performance and payment bond issues.
  • Manage claims involving changed conditions and scope disputes.
  • Represent clients in disputes over wrongful termination, delay, and liquidated damages.
  • Address claims related to defective plans and design issues.
  • Assist with bid protests and procurement-related disputes.
  • Advise clients throughout construction projects to mitigate risk.
  • Manage deadlines and procedural requirements across jurisdictions.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through strategic guidance.
  • Record and maintain billable hours accurately.

Requirements

  • Admission to practice in the State of New York (Connecticut, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania admissions are a plus).
  • At least 5 years of experience in construction law.
  • Experience with construction contract drafting and review.
  • Proven experience handling mechanic's liens and bond claims.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters independently.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the New York State Bar.
