Associate Attorney, Litigation

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a motivated Associate Attorney to join its Medical Malpractice and Commercial Litigation teams in York, PA. This position offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in two challenging practice areas, working alongside experienced trial attorneys and business litigators. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent research and writing skills, strong attention to detail, and a genuine interest in litigation.

Duties

• Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, motions, discovery requests/responses, and briefs.
• Assist with medical record reviews, expert analysis, and factual investigation in medical malpractice matters.
• Support commercial litigation cases involving business disputes, contracts, and tort claims.
• Prepare deposition summaries, case chronologies, and litigation reports.
• Attend depositions, hearings, mediations, and client meetings under the supervision of senior attorneys.
• Participate in trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, preparing witnesses, and developing trial strategies.
• Communicate effectively with clients, experts, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
• Stay updated on developments in both medical malpractice defense and commercial litigation.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law, or pending admission, in the relevant jurisdiction.
• 0-2 years of litigation experience (clerkship, summer associate, or internship experience in litigation preferred).
• Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively.
• Professional demeanor and excellent communication skills.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law, or pending admission, in the relevant jurisdiction.
