Associate Attorney - Commercial Litigation

Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney for its Commercial Litigation Group in New York, NY. The successful candidate will manage complex litigation matters, engage in client contact, and gain courtroom experience.

Duties

• Manage cases from investigation through resolution, including motion practice, discovery, depositions, court appearances, mediations, and trials.
• Draft pleadings, dispositive and discovery motions, and appellate briefs.
• Develop litigation strategy in collaboration with partners and clients; oversee discovery and e-discovery.
• Communicate directly with clients, experts, co-counsel, and opposing counsel; participate in settlement negotiations.
• Supervise and mentor junior team members and collaborate with staff.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the New York Bar in good standing.
• 2-4 years of commercial and/or real estate litigation experience in New York state and/or federal courts.
• Strong brief writing, research, and oral advocacy skills; comfort taking/defending depositions and appearing in court.
• Sound judgment, initiative, and the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
• Team-oriented mindset with professionalism and client service focus.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the New York Bar in good standing.
