Job Overview

A law firm seeks a mid to senior level attorney to join its Employee Benefits practice in Portland. This role is ideal for a self-motivated lawyer with the ability to handle matters independently and build a practice in a supportive environment. Candidates with law firm experience, excellent client relationship skills, and strong writing and oral advocacy abilities are preferred.

Duties

  • Advise on private, tax-exempt, and public retirement plans, including 401(k), 403(b), and 457(b) plans.
  • Provide M&A benefits support and counsel on 409A and executive compensation.
  • Manage health and welfare plans, ensuring compliance with ACA, COBRA, and HIPAA.
  • Engage in ERISA litigation and related legal matters.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years' experience in employee benefits law.
  • Proven ability to manage client relationships effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction.

  • Excellent writing and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
