Job Overview: A law firm seeks an experienced and highly skilled Construction Attorney to join its dynamic and growing team. This position will allow you to work on some of the most high-profile construction projects in Michigan, collaborating with a diverse range of clients, including municipalities, developers, contractors, and more. Duties:

  • Provide expert legal advice to clients on all aspects of development and construction projects.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate construction and development-related contracts.
  • Counsel clients on matters related to real estate, zoning, insurance, financing, and environmental law.
  • Play a key role in planning and managing large-scale construction projects.
  • Resolve disputes through various methods, including alternative dispute resolution, negotiation, and litigation.
  • Analyze project specifications and ensure all contracts comply with relevant terms.
  • Oversee and manage claims, warranty submissions, and bond-related issues.
  • Represent clients in cases involving construction defects, working closely with architects, engineers, and contractors.
  • Prepare and manage construction liens, including handling lien foreclosure litigation and ensuring proper filing procedures.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience practicing construction law, with a preference for candidates with experience in large commercial projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail and organization.
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex and technical matters.
  • Proven problem-solving capabilities and the ability to navigate intricate legal challenges.
  • Experience in managing projects or cases that involve multiple moving parts and deliverables.
  • Excellent academic background and law school performance.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Michigan State Bar.
