Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking a senior-level real estate attorney with a proven track record of managing both real estate transactions and litigation. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of seven years of experience in private practice, along with the ability to handle complex real estate matters and maintain strong client relationships. Location:

  • Grand Rapids, MI

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on real estate matters, including drafting and negotiating purchase agreements, construction contracts, leases, financing documents, and resolving title, zoning, utilities, environmental, and real estate tax issues.

  • Represent clients before municipal and state administrative agencies on real estate matters.

  • Maintain and expand client relationships while managing an existing book of business.

  • Collaborate with other attorneys and practice groups to enhance service offerings and cross-market legal services.

  • Identify and pursue business development opportunities to grow the firm’s client base.

  • Mentor junior associate attorneys and contribute to the firm’s strategic initiatives.

  • Communicate complex legal information clearly and accessibly to a wide range of stakeholders.

  • Stay updated on current real estate laws and regulations.

  • Deliver high-level client service and ensure client satisfaction.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in real estate law.

  • JD from an accredited law school.

  • Admitted to the State Bar of Michigan and in good standing.

  • Established transferable business (at least $300,000 annual).

  • Strong legal writing, research, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a busy caseload, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Exceptional client service and business development skills.

Education:

  • JD from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar of Michigan (or eligibility to be admitted).

Skills:

  • Expertise in real estate transactions, litigation, and regulatory matters.

  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong client relationship management and business development skills.

  • Ability to handle complex legal issues and communicate them effectively.

  • Highly organized with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
