A distinguished New York City-based law firm is seeking an accomplished Partner to spearhead its Commercial Litigation practice. The firm is looking for a candidate who excels in client acquisition and has a significant portable book of business. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and grow the firm’s Commercial Litigation practice, representing clients in a wide array of business disputes including breach of contract, shareholder disputes, fraud, and intellectual property matters.
  • Maintain and develop a client base with a minimum of $600,000 in annual portable business, actively seeking new opportunities to expand the practice.
  • Represent clients in state and federal courts, as well as in alternative dispute resolution forums such as arbitration and mediation.
  • Provide strategic legal counsel to corporate clients, advising them on risk management and dispute resolution strategies.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of junior attorneys, ensuring high-quality work product and efficient case management.
  • Actively participate in the firm’s business development initiatives by networking, attending industry events, and leveraging personal contacts to attract new clients.
  • Work collaboratively with other practice groups to provide comprehensive legal services for clients with multi-faceted legal needs.
  • Contribute to the firm’s diversity and inclusion goals by helping to foster a culturally rich and diverse work environment.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in Commercial Litigation, with substantial trial and pre-trial experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to attract and maintain a substantial client base, with a portable book of business generating at least $600,000 annually.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience managing litigation teams and mentoring junior attorneys.
  • Comprehensive understanding of commercial disputes, including contracts, business torts, corporate governance issues, and intellectual property litigation.
  • Excellent advocacy skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to clients, courts, and other stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in business development, with a focus on building long-term client relationships.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar (or eligibility for reciprocity).
  • Certifications in arbitration, mediation, or other forms of dispute resolution are an asset but not required.
