Partner - Insurance Defense Litigation

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Partner to join their team in Charleston, WV. The successful candidate will manage individual and junior associate caseloads, focusing on defense from inception through trial. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in insurance defense litigation.

Duties

• Manage individual and junior associate caseloads.
• Draft and respond to pleadings and discovery.
• Take and defend depositions of party and non-party witnesses.
• Coordinate with liability and damages experts.
• Draft and argue discovery and dispositive motions.
• Analyze risk transfer opportunities and draft tender letters.
• Appear for court conferences and motion arguments.
• Prepare cases for mediation/arbitration.
• Assist in trial preparations and attend trials as needed.

Requirements

• J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Active license in good standing in West Virginia.
• 8 to 12 years of experience in insurance defense litigation.
• Proven track record in handling complex litigation.
• Strong knowledge of West Virginia civil procedure and court rules.
• Self-motivated with excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Outstanding writing and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, ProLaw, Excel, and e-document management software preferred.

Education

• J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active license in good standing in West Virginia.
