Senior Associate Attorney

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Senior Associate Attorney in New York, NY, for a hybrid role focusing on New York Labor Law (Sections 240/241) and General Liability litigation. This position offers the opportunity to manage a caseload with autonomy while collaborating with experienced partners.

Duties

• Manage a full caseload involving New York Labor Law and general liability claims.
• Handle all phases of litigation from intake through resolution or trial.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research and analysis.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Attend court conferences, hearings, mediations, and arbitrations.
• Communicate with clients, insurance carriers, and opposing counsel.
• Collaborate with partners on litigation strategy.

Requirements

• Active license to practice law in New York (required).
• Minimum of 4 years' experience handling NYS Labor Law Sections 240/241 and general liability matters.
• Strong background in civil defense litigation, including pleadings, motions, depositions, and discovery.
• Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to independently manage deadlines and case strategy.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Experience in mediation, arbitration, or trial is a plus.
• Dual licensure in CT, PA, NJ, or another jurisdiction is a plus.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
