Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Employee Benefits Associate to join their collaborative team in Norfolk, VA. The role involves advising a diverse range of clients on benefits and compensation topics, including retirement plans, ESOPs, and executive agreements.

Duties

  • Advise clients on qualified retirement plans and employee stock ownership plans.
  • Handle nonqualified deferred compensation and equity compensation matters.
  • Assist with employment tax and welfare benefits issues.
  • Participate in M&A transactions and IRS/DOL audits.
  • Draft and review executive employment agreements.
  • Collaborate with team members to enhance client services.

Requirements

  • Two or more years of experience in employee benefits and executive compensation.
  • Experience with private-company ESOPs is beneficial but not required.
  • Commitment to long-term practice in employee benefits and executive compensation.
  • Ability to work independently and build client relationships.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the Virginia or North Carolina Bar, or ability to become licensed.
