Job Overview

A law firm seeks an attorney with at least six years of experience to join the U.S. arm of its International Trade: Economic Sanctions, Export Controls, and National Security practice in Washington, DC. The role involves advising on government contracts compliance and handling security clearance matters.

Duties

  • Advise clients on government contracts compliance, including NISPOM, FAR/DFARS, and cost accounting standards.
  • Manage registration and notification requirements under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations.
  • Navigate U.S. Customs and international trade and tariff laws.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop compliance and regulatory risk mitigation strategies.
  • Handle security clearance matters, including data handling and FOCI issues.
  • Support transactional activities involving government contracts and security clearance issues.

Requirements

  • At least six years of relevant experience.
  • Admitted to practice law and in good standing in the jurisdiction of hire.
  • Outstanding academic credentials required.
  • Law firm experience preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Admitted to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of government contracts compliance and related regulations.
  • Experience with security clearance processes and requirements.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
