Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly motivated Associate Attorney to join its team in Lexington, KY. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of litigation experience, with a focus on Labor & Employment Law. Candidates with exposure to government law are encouraged to apply. This role requires excellent communication, research, and writing skills, and a partnership mentality.

Duties

  • Provide initial analysis and develop case strategy.
  • Prepare and respond to discovery.
  • Take and defend depositions, draft motions, and attend hearings.
  • Explain legal options to clients and highlight possible outcomes or threats.
  • Build relationships with clients.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
  • License to practice law in Indiana or ability to obtain one is a plus.
  • Ability to negotiate, research, and communicate effectively.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and solid academic background.
  • Sense of urgency in problem-solving and meeting deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented with a track record of meeting billable hours goals.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and effective.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook; experience with iManage and/or OneDrive is a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
