Associate Attorney (Litigation)

Job Overview

A law firm seeks an associate attorney with over 8 years of litigation experience to join its defense practice in Buffalo, NY. This role offers the opportunity to handle complex legal matters within a collaborative environment, with options for remote work.

Duties

• Handle all phases of New York defense litigation, including discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
• Draft and respond to discovery demands and objections, ensuring timely compliance.
• Prepare motions to compel and supporting papers as needed.
• Draft and respond to motions for summary judgment.
• Conduct legal research and prepare comprehensive reports and analyses.
• Participate in court conferences, depositions, hearings, and trial proceedings.
• Manage case strategy and deadlines, ensuring compliance with client guidelines.
• Maintain accurate time records and billing entries.

Requirements

• 8+ years of litigation experience, preferably in a law firm setting.
• Experience in defense litigation, ideally in areas such as insurance defense, municipal liability, and product liability.
• Admission to practice in New York.
• Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
• Strong communication skills and professionalism.
• Ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines consistently.
• Interest in handling matters both within and outside Western New York is a plus.
• Trial experience is a plus.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar.
