Senior Counsel - Liability and Excess Coverage

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Senior Counsel with over eight years of insurance coverage experience to join its Seattle, WA office. This role involves providing coverage advice and litigation services for domestic insurers concerning commercial general liability and excess policies.

Duties

• Analyze rights and obligations under insurance policies and draft coverage opinions.
• Conduct legal research and draft memoranda.
• Prepare and analyze pleadings, discovery, motions, and legal correspondence.
• Meet and confer with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties.
• Attend depositions, hearings, and mediations.
• Manage matters, deadlines, and client communication proactively.

Requirements

• Admitted to practice law in Washington; multiple admissions are a plus.
• Experience in insurance coverage and coverage litigation.
• Excellent legal research, writing, and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive and time-sensitive matters.
• Effective problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in Washington State.
