Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Litigation Associate Attorney specializing in Medical Malpractice and General Liability to join their defense litigation team in Rye Brook, NY. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and writing skills, experience managing cases through discovery, and a desire to thrive in a fast-paced litigation environment.

Duties

  • Defend clients in medical malpractice and general liability cases.
  • Manage files through all stages of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, and motion practice.
  • Draft and argue motions.
  • Conduct legal research.
  • Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and experts.
  • Prepare cases for trial, including expert coordination and pretrial submissions.
  • Appear in court for hearings, conferences, and mediations.
  • Communicate with clients, experts, and opposing counsel professionally and effectively.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license and good standing with the New York State Bar.
  • 2-3 years of litigation experience, preferably in medical malpractice and/or general liability defense.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience defending healthcare providers, hospitals, nursing homes, or insurers.
  • Deposition and motion hearing experience.
  • Trial preparation.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license and good standing with the New York State Bar.
