Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Litigation Associate in New Orleans, LA. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience, preferably in commercial litigation, bankruptcy, and consumer financial services litigation. The role requires demonstrated experience in executing legal strategies, depositions, motion practice, trials, and other key litigation events.

Duties

  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support litigation matters.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents with attention to detail.
  • Prepare discovery requests and responses.
  • Represent clients in court appearances, depositions, mediations, and arbitrations.
  • Manage and prioritize a diverse caseload.
  • Work closely with partners on complex litigation matters.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, judges, mediators, and arbitrators.
  • Participate in strategy discussions and case planning.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school with an excellent academic record.
  • Admission to the Louisiana state bar.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience.
  • Experience in commercial litigation, bankruptcy, or consumer litigation preferred.
  • Ability to interface directly with attorneys and clients.
  • Demonstrate an ability to work independently and productively.

Education

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the Louisiana state bar.

  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and organization skills.
  • Outstanding judgment.
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple projects.
