Job Overview

A law firm seeks a motivated attorney to join its Toledo, OH office as part of the General Liability and Transportation practice groups. This role offers an opportunity to work with a team of skilled trial attorneys in a collaborative environment.

Duties

  • Represent clients in all phases of civil litigation from inception through trial and appeal.
  • Handle transportation and trucking defense matters, including motor carrier liability and FMCSA compliance issues.
  • Manage general litigation matters such as premises liability, products liability, and commercial disputes.
  • Conduct depositions, argue motions, and appear at hearings and mediations.
  • Draft pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, and trial documents.
  • Develop case strategy and provide clients with practical, cost-effective counsel.
  • Participate in business development activities and maintain client relationships.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of civil litigation experience in state and federal courts.
  • License to practice in both Michigan and Ohio is a plus.
  • Experience in conducting discovery, taking and defending depositions, and motion practice preferred.
  • Excellent research and writing skills.
  • Demonstrated work ethic and commitment to excellence.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • License to practice law in Michigan (required).
