Employment Law Attorney (Employer Side)

Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Employment Law Attorney in Spokane Valley, WA, to represent employers in advisory and litigation matters. This role involves proactive counseling, risk management, and defense of employment-related claims, advising on compliance, workplace policies, and personnel decisions, and representing clients in administrative proceedings and litigation.

Duties

• Counsel employers on compliance with federal and state employment laws.
• Advise on hiring, discipline, termination, wage and hour, leave laws, and workplace investigations.
• Draft and review employment agreements, handbooks, policies, and severance agreements.
• Provide proactive risk management guidance to minimize litigation exposure.
• Defend employers in administrative proceedings and employment litigation.
• Manage cases from initial assessment through resolution.
• Negotiate settlements and represent clients in mediation.
• Serve as primary relationship attorney for assigned clients.
• Collaborate with attorneys in business, estate, and real estate practice areas.

Requirements

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Admitted to practice in Washington.
• 3+ years of employment law experience.
• Experience advising employers on compliance and personnel matters.
• Experience handling employment litigation independently.
• Strong written advocacy and courtroom skills.

Education

• JD from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice in Washington.

Skills

• Confident, practical advisor to business decision-makers.
• Experience conducting workplace investigations preferred.
• Experience defending wage and hour claims preferred.
• Experience in multi-state employer compliance preferred.
