Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly qualified associate with 3-5 years of experience to join their Cyber, Privacy, and Data Innovation group in Washington, D.C. The role involves advising global companies on privacy, cybersecurity, and AI compliance programs, covering a wide range of U.S. and international laws and frameworks.

Duties

  • Advise on compliance with major privacy and data protection frameworks.
  • Negotiate privacy, security, and data-related terms in commercial contracts.
  • Handle privacy and security components of corporate transactions.
  • Engage directly with clients and lead significant projects.
  • Develop AI governance frameworks and policies.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in privacy, cybersecurity, AI, and data protection.
  • Experience with CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, HIPAA, GLBA, COPPA, BIPA, CAN-SPAM, TCPA.
  • Familiarity with AI regulatory developments preferred.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Strong academic credentials from a nationally recognized law school.
  • Admission to the state bar of the office location.

Education

  • JD is required.

Certifications

  • CIPP/US, CIPT, CIPM, AIGP, or other IAPP certifications are a plus.

Skills

  • Proactive communication and project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a global team.
  • Understanding of online technologies, digital advertising, and emerging technologies.

Salaries are in line with other top Bay Area firms, and the firm provides a sizable bonus for all lawyers who bill at least 1,950 hours, with additional money based on three separate billable-hour levels above 1,950.
