Job Overview

A law firm seeks a skilled Deposition Attorney to join their team in San Jose, California. This remote role requires active membership in the California State Bar and involves managing a high-volume deposition schedule across the state. The attorney will work closely with the Trial Team to prepare trial-ready cases.

Duties

  • Prepare detailed deposition outlines and examination plans for fact and expert witnesses.
  • Take and defend depositions in lemon law, warranty, and consumer litigation matters.
  • Coordinate logistics and exhibits for depositions, including working with court reporters and vendors.
  • Draft and review deposition summaries, transcripts, and related pleadings.
  • Collaborate with the Trial Team to develop trial themes and strategies.
  • Conduct witness preparation sessions and assist in effective testimony presentation.
  • Communicate directly with clients, experts, and third-party witnesses.
  • Maintain accurate case notes and deposition calendars.
  • Travel across California for in-person depositions and hearings as required.

Requirements

  • Proven experience taking and defending depositions in civil litigation.
  • Experience preparing deposition examination outlines and summaries.
  • Ability to manage deposition logistics and work with remote technology platforms.
  • Strong oral advocacy and witness examination skills.
  • Excellent legal writing skills with examples of deposition-related work.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the California State Bar.

Skills

  • Strong command of California civil procedure and consumer warranty law.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • Familiarity with deposition-related software and remote deposition technology.
