Associate - Tax (State and Local Tax)

Job Overview
A law firm seeks a mid-level associate to join its State and Local Tax (SALT) group in Palo Alto, California. This role involves property and transfer tax planning, handling exemptions and exclusions, and managing controversies across various appellate levels for diverse property types and industries.

Duties

• Conduct legal and factual research and analysis.
• Assist with case management, development, valuation, and strategy.
• Draft legal documents for varied audiences.
• Engage in oral advocacy in diverse settings.
• Maintain frequent client interactions.

Requirements

• Barred in at least one U.S. jurisdiction and willing to sit for the California State Bar.
• Previous or current employment with an Am Law 100 or top accounting firm preferred.

Education

• Bachelor's degree.
• Juris Doctorate degree (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school.

Certifications

• Bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

Skills

• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Analytical and time management skills.
• Superior judgment and proficiency in Excel.
• Comfortable working with numbers.
