Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney specializing in Mass Torts/Class Actions for its San Diego, CA office. Remote work is permitted when travel is not required.

Duties

  • Manage discovery, including propounding and responding to written discovery, taking and defending depositions, and analyzing complex documents.
  • Draft and prepare legal documents, including pleadings and complex motions.
  • Perform legal research.
  • Make court appearances as necessary.
  • Participate in case strategy discussions and contribute innovative ideas.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and team members.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on cases.
  • May direct work of 2 Junior Associates.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Three years of experience as a Commercial Litigation Attorney, with familiarity with Class Action cases or a closely related type of experience.
  • Active license to practice law in California in both State and Federal courts.
  • Experience and demonstrated proficiency with E-Discovery and law programs including Sharefile, PACER, CaseAnywhere, WestLaw, and Relativity.
  • Domestic travel to various locations in the U.S., primarily California, with a minimum of 12 trips per year of 3-5 days duration.

Education

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in California in both State and Federal courts.

Skills

  • Proficiency in E-Discovery and law programs including Sharefile, PACER, CaseAnywhere, WestLaw, and Relativity.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage complex legal documents and discovery processes.
