Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Litigation Associate to join its growing litigation defense practice in Seattle, WA. The role involves handling a variety of liability and insurance challenges, including insurance coverage, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, and more.

Duties

  • Take depositions, attend hearings, and mediations as required.
  • Draft and submit pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Prepare correspondence to colleagues and clients.
  • Conduct legal research using Westlaw/Lexis/Nexis.
  • Draft discovery requests and responses.
  • Review and analyze documents for production.
  • Investigate claims and prepare case handling strategies.
  • Report to insurance carrier clients and insureds.
  • Prepare cases for trial/mediation and participate in them.

Requirements

  • Admitted to practice in Washington State.
  • Civil litigation experience.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and time-sensitive matters.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Washington State.

Skills

  • Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw and Lexis/Nexis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
