Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly motivated senior associate attorney to join its Environment, Energy & Resources practice group in Washington, DC. The successful candidate will lead significant matters at the intersection of digital infrastructure and energy transition, working with renowned partners to manage complex transactions.

Duties

  • Lead data center power transactions, drafting and negotiating power purchase agreements and interconnection arrangements.
  • Provide strategic advice on electric market design issues within RTOs/ISOs, focusing on capacity market mechanisms and interconnection policies.
  • Represent clients in proceedings before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and advise on compliance with market-based rate programs.
  • Counsel clients on emerging energy policy, renewable energy integration, and carbon-free energy procurement strategies.
  • Participate in client relationship management and contribute to thought leadership in digital and energy infrastructure.
  • Mentor associates within the practice group, ensuring excellence in work product and professional development.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in energy law.
  • Proven ability to manage complex transactions and regulatory filings independently.
  • Deep knowledge of the Federal Power Act and wholesale power markets.
  • Collaborative self-starter.
  • Must be admitted to practice (or eligible to waive in) to the jurisdiction of office location.

Education

  • JD from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admitted to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.

Skills

  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent strategic advisory capabilities.
  • Ability to mentor and develop junior attorneys.
